Its Brock birthday today! My guest blogger has one of the funniest stories that I had forgotten. Thank you Aunt Kristi and cute family for sending this "Brock story".

One of my favorite stories of Brock, is when the whole family was out to dinner at Golden Corral, and the waitress came around to refill our drinks. As the rest of us were chatting away, the waitress was gathering up our glasses to refill them. When she grabbed Brock's, he had left his straw in the glass, so she tilted the glass back to Brock, so he could get the straw out. Brock not knowing what she was doing, slowly lowered his head and drank the last little bit in his glass as she held it. The waitress looked at him stunned for a couple seconds, then started smiling and said "No, sweetie, I need you to take your straw" Brock got his little embarrassed grin on his face and grabbed it. We laugh at that story, thinking that Brock was going "Wow, this place has great service, they hold my drink for me" Happy Birthday Brock!!! We love you!!

Todays Brock story is the last one. We are leaving on vacation tonight and I don't want to bring my laptop with me. Brock will be turning 12 on Saturday. I am having a hard time believing it. It was the early morning hours on October 22, 1999. I was already 4 days over due and I was just sick and tired of being pregnant. I just wanted to meet my son already. I asked Kristi if she would take me for a drive to Gunlock lake and we would have lunch with little Jessica and Little Kaytlin. We went to McDonalds for lunch and the girls had gotten cute little Halloween buckets with their Happy Meals. Kaytlin accidentally sent her bucket too far into the water. I was getting up to rescue her bucket when I felt a gush of water. I guess I had this freaked out look on my face because Kristi knew imediately what just happened. We grabbed the girls and ran for the truck. Kaytlin was very sad I left her bucket in the water. Kristi was prepared for my water breaking and pulled out a towel for me to sit on. I wasn't having any contractions though. Well, I didn't feel any. She brought me home and I called Danny and then my midwife. Danny made it home to catch Brock. Yes, he delivered my son. The umbilical cord was around his neck and his shoulders got stuck a little bit, but after 4 hours of hard labor, I finally held my son in my arms. He was a beautiful newborn baby! Perfect! My parents were watching Kaytlin and they brought her home soon after. She loved him instantly. She wanted to hold him and play with him all of the time. I am so thankful for Brock. I love him so much! He was 9 pounds 1 ounce, 21 inches long. Born at 10:15 pm on Friday, 10/22/99. (Kaytlin was also born 4 days over due on a Friday at around 10:15 pm. Weird!) HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROCK!!!

Last year we went to Lagoon alot. We had season passes. Brock was in heaven every time we went. The entire summer Brock was secretly working up his nerve to fly on the Sky Rocket. Finally, last October, he did it! Brock was super nervous and didn't talk much. Kaytlin was the one who had to pull the rip cord. When they were done, Brock didn't shut up. He talked and talked about how he would have dreams of flying and then falling, but he did it anyway. I didn't know he was so worried. I am very proud of him for overcoming this fear. They did the ride two more times after that.

So I told you a couple of days ago about Brocks new found fear of heights, but he is actually quite fearless. A few years ago, Danny was the coach for Kaytlins 6th grade soccer team. At one of the games, Danny didn't have enough players so he asked Brock to play with them. He didn't just send him in to cover a whimpy player, he sent him in to defend the biggest player on the opposite team. Danny told him to block the biggest kid and do not let him get passed him or score a goal. Brock did not hesitate. This kid was a 6th grader and Brock was in 3rd grade. He never even got passed Brock to score a goal! Danny was extremely proud of him!!!

Brock had a sleepover party with his friends last night. I'm really not in the mood to think of a story today. How about you just review the past stories. There will be a test by the end of the week. Oh man that would be so cool! Come back tomorrow.

Just in case you are just now tuning in, this is Brocks birthday month so I am telling a story about him everyday until his birthday on the 22nd. Todays story just happened yesterday.
We were at Kays volleyball game but it had not started yet. So Danny and Brock decided to throw around the football for a few minutes until the game started. They paused for a minute to look at a huge...um...you know, one of those one kind of bugs that look like a leaf? Well, here is a picture of one.

As they got closer to it, it decided to fly away.
Brock, "Wow! I have never seen one fly. Awwww...Ohhhh"
Just then, the bug decided to take a sharp turn just as a big Suburban drove by. Smack!!! It was dead. You could hear the thud as it hit the car. It took a few seconds of shock and then Brock started laughing so hard. It was hilarious!

My how Brock has grown!!!

This is the first Fall season in many years that Brock has not participated in some Rec League soccer or football or basketball team. Whew! It has been great!! He has learned many great and new skills while playing in these sports though. When he was 5 or 6 years old, he played on a football team and loved it. He looked so forward to games. Well, one game he was having such a good time he just wanted to share the love. After every play, he would slap his team players on the back or give them "noogies" on the head. I guess he just got carried away near the end of the game when the other team made a good play and Brock went up to the player (from the other team) and gave him a "noogie". The player looked at him like he was crazy. Brock just told him good job and walked away with a smile on his face. Classic!!!
Brock is in the orange shorts in these pictures. These are of his flag football team in Spring of 2011.

I have already told this story about 6 months ago. We went hiking in Zion National Park earlier in the year. That was when Brock decided he didn't like heights.
Mom: "How do you know you are afraid?"
Brock: "Because when I look down, my nuggets get sucked in."
Kay: "I have always wanted a sister!"

We took a vacation down the coast of Oregon in the Spring of 2008. There is the coolest, off the side of the road, petting zoo. Brock doesn't care for animals as much as Kaytlin does, but he thought it was cool to be able to pet a cougar, play with a couple of baby panthers and feed the baby deer and goats. There was even a peacock who let the kids touch its feathers.
While walking around the park, a big llama decided Brock smelled good. This llama started to follow him very quietly. He had no idea for the longest time. I couldn't get my camera out because it would scare the llama and tip Brock off that he was being followed. Pretty soon, I guess Brock sensed something was breathing down his neck. He turned and just about peed his pants seeing the llama right behind him. The rest of us were laughing so hard, but it took a couple of minutes for Brock to see the humor in that. He finally decided the llama wasn't going to hurt him and that he and the animal were best friends. Man, I really wish I had my camera out!

Another guest blogger! It's Kaytlin!!!
My mom doesn't really like it when we wake her up from a deep sleep... Brock and I did exactly just that one Christmas morning. Brock came into my room early in the morning because he couldn't sleep. (This was our plan: if one of us couldn't sleep, we would wake up the other person to play some games until it was early enough to go look at some presents.) When Brock came into my room, it was about 5 o'clock in the morning. We started playing on our DS's and played some board games. Well, we got bored quickly and we couldn't wait any longer. We both decided to just look at the presents in our stocking. When we tip-toed out of my room, we crossed the living room silently to my parents room to close their bedroom door. After that we went to our stockings. Brock got so excited that he knocked over my dad's stocking holder and it crashed to the floor. Brock and I stood there frozen on the spot. It had been only a few seconds before Mom and Dad came rushing out of their room. Brock and I just continued to stand their looking a little guilty. My parents looked from the not broken stocking holder to us then back down again; then they started to laugh. We opened presents early that morning and then my parents went back to bed for about another 2 hours. I was sure that I was going to get in trouble! I love my brother , he's definitely my partner in crime!!

Just like most 2nd graders, Brock kind of got lazy in his responses to questions. However, for about 2 or 3 months, his only answer to any question was the same.
"Brock, how was school today?" "I think....25."
"Hey Brock, do you know where Daddy is?" "Um...I think...25."
"So what should we do today?" "I think....25."

Brock really, truly loves and idolizes his Dad. I love seeing Danny hang out with and be silly with Brock!
