I have lost my voice. I had a little bit of a cold earlier in the week. It was nothing big at all. I woke up this morning and couldn't get my words out. I love to make fun of my kids while they are in the middle of their puberty transition, so this has been a great opportunity for them to make fun of my squeaky voice. For the most part though, they have been very loving and sympathetic to my dilemma. Kaytlin gives me hugs all of the time and offers to help me with whatever I need to get done. (Well as long as her friends aren't hangin' at my house. Geez teenage girls eat a lot!) Brock just loves to make me laugh. This morning I was asking him if he did his usual morning routine correctly, you know like gel in his hair and eating breakfast (two things he will forget if I don't ask every morning), and he started to throw a little attitude at me. So I did what every other loving mother would do. I asked him if he remembered his deodrant over and over until I could tell it was bugging him really bad. He knew I wasn't feeling so hot, so instead of screaming at me he said, "Mom...(glaring at me)I really feel like hitting....(still looking at me)THIS!" He pointed at the TV. Awwwww. Even though it was me who was so annoying, he still didn't want to hurt my feelings. I couldn't stop laughing. Well, my voice was gone so it sounded more like a dolphin. So sweet!

Poor Brock! I almost killed him today. Not on purpose of course, but he really almost died. Well he thought so anyway. I lovingly made some yummy oatmeal for breakfast this morning. He is just not a fan. In fact, in all of his 12 years of life I have been unsuccessful in even getting him to try oatmeal. I even added sugar and cinnamon. Kay and I very much enjoyed breakfast while Brock just stared at it for about 10 minutes trying to decide if he wanted to be brave or not. After a while, I just started to laugh so hard. The look on his face was just torture! He even had tears in his eyes. Its just oatmeal for crying out loud! He knows he needs to try new foods, but he just couldn't do it today. I felt so bad for him and laughed at him at the same time. I am just a terrible mom. He finally started to laugh with us because he realized how silly he was being. He still has not tried it. I figure I have 7 more years to work on new foods with him before he goes on his mission. It is going by too fast!
