Holiday Run Down 2013

Whew!!! 2013 is done! I'm sorry my blogging is not doing so well. In fact, I noticed that I didn't really take many pictures these last couple of months. Oh well. Halloween was so fun! I actually got to stay home for the first time in at least 3 years and help decorate our awesome haunted entryway. What's funny is it is really quite scary and we have many many many little children in our neighborhood. However, most of them were practically running in so see what we have done. Brock was hanging with his football friends at one of their houses, but Kay dressed up like a zombie and danced to "Thriller" to entertain the cute kids. So there is a picture of Brock and Kay, but Brock is not dressed up. He's too cool, but Kaytlin isn't cool at all! She dressed up in like three different costumes for a billion different parties. She and I went to Witchapalooza at Gardner Village. Never been. We will be going next year for sure! Then she dressed up as Snow White for a church party. That's her with Nacho Libre and Dr. Who. Then she dressed as a modern day teenage Snow White for school. Finally, Halloween she was the dancing zombie.

Then along came Thanksgiving. I had to work and Danny wasn't feeling well so we quickly got a dinner together and had a blast fixing up the table and eating good food all day long at home. Brock helped me make some delish deserts. Quite talented for sure!

Christmas snuck up on me way bad. December is time for puzzles. We finished at least 3 puzzles. They were kind of hard too. I noticed that the kids were not interested until either Danny or I had the boarder done and all of the pieces turned over. HeHe What? Lazy teenagers? Nah!!! We also went to see the Christmas lights downtown with Bevan and family!! Oh My Gosh! It was so cool to see them. It has been 2 years since I have seen them and even longer than that for Danny, Kay, and Brock. They have never even met Abram. He is Bevan and Amys stinkin cute little 2 year old. We could only visit for about 2 hours, but in that time, Abram would not let Danny go, Clara (7 year old) and Brock bonded with a snowball fight and Kaytlin was able to get Sophie (4 year old)to have a great big conversation. That left me and Bevan and Amy to chat for a couple of minutes. I would really like to talk with them a lot longer. Super great parents! I think they should teach a class or write a book on parenting or something. Even though its quite difficult with multiple small ones, they seem to be doing just fine. I was so surprised when Danny said, "I think we should get tickets to the Nutcracker this year." I just about fainted. So the big night came and I spent most of the afternoon beforehand trying to convince Brock that he needs to dress up. Look nice. Why is that so hard for him. He really fought me on it. By the time Danny got home from work and it was time to go, I just threw up my arms in frustration and told him to wear whatever the hell he wants! So he wore a button down shirt with his church jacket. With shorts and his fluorescent yellow shoes. I took comfort in knowing we would be sitting down. I had to quickly change my attitude because I didn't want something as dumb as what my children are wearing to ruin my special night. So I did and it was a great night! BTW...during the intermission, Brock leaned over to me and said, "Mom I should have listened to you and worn nice pants." That's right!! I'm always right! Well, that's what I felt like saying, but instead I just shrugged my shoulders and gave him a big hug. Maybe I should take my kids to dress up performances more often. They are old enough. Lesson learned. Christmas Eve we spent in Stansbury Park with Jane and Chad, Laurel, Ausha, and Kaden. It was great! But it also went by way to fast. One of the pictures is Kay, Brock, Ausha, and Kaden in their new jackets from their NaNa. Well Kaden got a cool Real Soccer scarf. Stinkin cute kids! Finally, Christmas morning. Well, I think it was great. I worked both Christmas eve and Christmas day so I only had about 3 hours with the family.
