We just wrapped up a super awesome "STAYCATION". It was time to take a break from everything. Ok, just Danny and I needed a break from work. I try to keep the kids busy during their summer break, but even they needed a break from just the normal stuff at home.
Starting last Sunday, we did something big and fun everyday. We spent all day Monday at the Olympic park in Park City. We did the Alpine Slide, Zip line, Rope obstacle course, and Olympic museum. We had all day passes to all of them.
Tuesday, we went bowling and then hit the Natural History Museum and the University of Utah. That night everybody did their normal Tuesday evening thing which was Brocks football camp, Danny was with the Young Men and Kay was with the Young Women. Girls camp is this coming Monday and they made a really cute little messenger bag to take with them. Kay ended up finishing up her bag at home late into the night. It turned out great!
Wednesday was Lagoon day. I didn't bring the camera with me most of the day. It was 103 degrees. I don't think I stopped sweating once. I'm pretty sure I lost at least 5 pounds that day.
Thursday morning we were going to do baptims at the Salt Lake City temple, but it was closed for maintenance. Everyone was bummed except for Brock. I think he was relieved. Instead we went the Church History Museum. Still very cool! Then we spent the rest of the day at the City Creek mall. It was also the last day for Brocks football camp. It is amazing to me to see him improve so much. He is really fast and really strong. Just like his Dad!
Friday we headed south to play. Danny and the kids were going to run the Young Family Lavender Farms half-marathoon and 5k race Saturday morning. So we decided to stay the night in Provo. We stopped at Trafalga "fun place" in Lehi. The kids thought the name Trafalga was dumb so they started to call it "Tortouga". Yea, much better. Anyway, we found a Pizza Factory and then went swimming at the hotel until they kicked us out.
Saturday morning was the race and it was so cold. What the heck! It went from 103 degrees to so cold I could not get warm again for the rest of the day. They did so good on their run. Danny ran the half-marathon and the kids ran the 5k. I am so proud of all of them. On the way back home we went to the Aquarium. It has been awhile since Danny has been there. They now have penguins and otters! So fun!!!
Of course we couldn't forget our "Slurpee Saturdays". One last Hoo-rah before we end our spectacular week. We are tired and happy. (and it is raining) He He. Now we are ready for Scout camp, Girls camp and more work for Danny and me.
